Letter From Recruitment Chair

Hi there!

I’m so thrilled that you are interested in participating in the recruitment process at Belmont. Greek life at Belmont has provided me with the most perfect community over the past three years on this campus. Greek life here is unique and wonderful. I want to encourage you during the fall semester to attend events, ask questions, and observe the chapters on campus to become familiar with each one, and the values they hold close to them.

Whether you’ve been dreaming of sorority letters your whole life, or you spent your high school years swearing you’d never join a sorority (like I did), or anywhere in between, recruitment can be a nerve-racking experience. So, I’d love to offer you one small piece of advice… be yourself. 

My sisters think it’s funny whenever I make this comparison, but it couldn't be more true... the recruitment process is like a Hannah Montana song.

“You can change your hair, and you can change your clothes. You can change your mind, that's just the way it goes. You can say goodbye and you can say hello, but you’ll always find your way back home. “

When I went through recruitment I was lost. I was at a new school, with only a few friends and I was doing anything I could to fit in with the people around me. I changed my clothes, my taste in music, my sense of humor, anything I could until I hardly recognized myself. The moment I went through sorority recruitment, I felt at peace, because for the first time at college, I found women who I saw myself in, and I admired. I never had to change who I was for these girls. They met me where I was at, and helped me grow into the woman I am today, and I’m forever thankful.

I hope that through recruitment, you can find your home, just like I did, in a chapter at Belmont. The Panhellenic community is ready to welcome you with arms wide open.  You are seen and you are loved. On behalf of my sisters and me, we can’t wait to meet you.
