Chapter Philanthropy

Phi Mu is a corporate sponsor of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH).  CMNH is a non-profit organization committed to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals across North America.  National Phi Mu has raised over $8 million since 1986.  The funds that our chapter raises stays in our local community and goves directly to the Monroe Carroll Jr, Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University here in Nashville.

Each semester our chapters hosts a philanthropic event to raise money in support of CMNH.  In previous years during the Fall semester we have hosted Bonnamu. Modeled loosely after the popular Tennessee music festival Bonnaroo, this event is a fun-filled night of live music performed by fellow Belmont students. Phi Mu has also partnered with our neighbors at Vanderbilt University to participate in Dance Marathon each year.  Through this event, we not only raise money, but also have the opportunity to establish relationships with the miracle children and their families throughout the night.

Our most recent and beneficial event has been Model for a Miracle, a fashion show we put on.  Clothing stores and boutiques in the Nashville area allow our sisters to model clothing down the runway, and afterwards shop around with a portion of the proceeds benefitting CMN! A few of the amazing vendors we hosted last year included Lilly Pulitzer, Blush Boutiques, and Kendra Scott. A silent auction also takes place during the show, with all proceeds benefitting Children's Miracle Network. Past items have included Tory Burch, concert tickets, and spa packages. This event allows students, parents, and even those individuals outside the Belmont community to take part. In 2016, we were thrilled to have raised over $18,623, all for the kids.

There's nothing more rewarding than being able to actually see the smiles on the faces of children.  Whatever we are doing, we always have fun with each other while helping out the community.
